About the Role

Lylli Studio is seeking an experienced Head of Editorial Creation with a deep passion for children’s storytelling across picture books, chapter books, comics/graphic novels, and nonfiction for ages 2–12. Lylli is an innovative app that brings thousands of children’s books to life by creating a captivating experience that promotes children’s cognitive development, establishes reading habits, and invites them into a life as readers. Lylli’s mission is to make reading fun and engaging with interactive books that can enhance storytelling and make these stories accessible everywhere.

This role blends traditional editorial leadership with platform-scale creation and AI-enabled workflows. You will oversee content/book development while also defining the creative systems, standards, and frameworks that allow thousands of creators - human and AI-assisted - to produce high-quality stories.

You will act as the guardian of storytelling quality, particularly for stories created from or in collaboration with existing IPs, ensuring consistency, brand alignment, and child suitability.

Your mission is to build a scalable editorial and creative system where original stories and IP-based content can be created efficiently using new technology - while consistently meeting a high narrative, educational and ethical bar in a fast paced environment.

  • Define storytelling formats, age levels, themes, tone, and narrative structures across formats
  • Lead and oversee production and concept development of stories created in key partnerships with existing or licensed IPs
  • Set up scalable and efficient creative processes for creating book concepts from scratch or based on episodes and/or toys with Lylli team
  • Coach and lead creators involved in projects
  • Provide structured feedback loops to improve storytelling quality at scale and translate user data and platform insights into creative and editorial improvements
  • Identify trends and new content opportunities through both traditional and non-traditional channels (e.g. creators, platforms, social media, emerging talent)
  • Collaborate closely with Product/Offering, Marketing and Leadership team

You'll thrive in this role if you...

  • Worked within the digital space around kids storytelling (books, games, video)
  • Children’s book publishing (print or digital)
  • Editorial or narrative leadership roles in content platforms or within publishing
  • Kids entertainment media, games, animation, or edtech
  • Experience building storytelling concepts, worlds, or franchises
  • Exposure to AI-supported creative tools or platform-based content creation

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience editing children’s literature or storytelling content
  • Strong editorial vision and understanding of the children’s literature and digital content market
  • Experience working with or developing content around existing or new IPs
  • Comfort balancing creative with scalability and systems thinking
  • Data-curious and excited about AI as a creative collaborator, not a replacement
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams
